Just the other day, I was reading a blog post by Joel Comm about Mobile Messaging. It was a great article and talks about the excitement he had for this service. So, it got me to thinking about some of my customers. Actually, one customer in particular came to mind. See, he sells a product online but his product is also offered in local stores throughout his area. All of those customers are his customers and yet he has no way of communicating with them.
As we all know, in online business – there is money in the list – right? But what if you sell something offline? Can you still build a list? Of Course!
Mobile Marketing
The idea of mobile marketing is to allow you to reach your customers where they already are – on their phone! They take their phone with them everywhere. The generation of kids that could send text messages in their pockets are becoming the consumers that are shopping the malls. The parents that wanted to keep in touch with their kids know how to text message. The adults that want to communicate during a meeting without talking on the phone…they are textually active! Now, enter Mobile Marketing.
In email, we have autoresponders that allow you to set up a series of emails to educate, serve, and build relationships with your customers. Well, now with mobile messaging services you can do the same thing.
Mobile Marketing For Offline List Building
With mobile marketing, you can now reach your offline customers and get them into your list. Think about offering an instant-coupon that could be sent to their mobile phone. Once they sign up for your list, they get a coupon back. They present the coupon at the register and BAM! You have a new person on your list with permission to market to them and they get a little bit off the top of their purchase.
If you offer a product in someone elses store, you may have to work at the coupon details a bit, but to grow your list it is worth it! You can announce sales, discounts, events, product launches, cross-sell, and up-sell opportunities. What could be better!
Getting Started with Mobile Marketing
I have looked at a few different companies that are out there and the prices are fairly reasonable. Personally, I like Mozeo.com. Their pricing seems reasonable and their services are broad.
What Do You Think?
Do you see yourself using mobile marketing? Do you have any questions on how to use it? If you need some help, just post a bit about your business and I will give it some thought. Maybe we can find a way to build your mobile-list and build your business together.
